A Letter from a Friend

A few weeks ago Recovery Is Beautiful was at an event in Northeast, Ohio and was able to talk to a lot of unique individuals all with their own stories. Below is a hopeful written letter Recovery Is Beautiful received from a young person that attended this event.

Hello, this is an anonymous letter from Youngstown, Ohio. What would you say to someone in recovery? First off, right now if you’re trying your hardest not to use drugs – I am so proud of you. If you are sitting here reading this and not cutting – you are strong because I know what that feels like. Getting better isn’t easy but, here you are reading this note from someone you will probably never even meet, I think you can get thru whatever you’re going thru and struggling with. Being honest I said to myself that I would never get better and that I would before I turned 13 years old. I’m writing this letter in a treatment common area. I’m 15 years old and I’m in a place I never thought possible.

And even though I don’t know you, and I probably never will, I believe in you and I want you to keep being strong. You are worth it, you are strong, you will get better. I know you can.

<3 Me
