Recovery Is Beautiful Advisory Committee

Recovery Is Beautiful is all about making sure that the voices of individuals with a mental illness and/or addiction and their family members are heard. To build on that idea, OACBHA brought together a group of advocates (85% of them are individuals in recovery) who have come together to jump on board and assist with the continued roll-out of the Recovery Is Beautiful movement.

The Advisory Committee is made up of a diverse group of individuals of various communities, ages, identifications, and skills that are unique to them. We believe that by collaborating together, this allows each member of the committee to bring along their own skill set, life experience, and perspective to the Recovery Is Beautiful movement.

We end every presentation with a Margaret Mead quote: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” After finishing our first few meeting together, I genuinely believe that this group is a fabulous representation of Margaret’s words. I am so happy to be a part of the journey, and look forward to the work this group’s endeavors.
